Gerry's career took off early. During his junior year in college, he was hired as a news writer in DZEC of Eagle Broadcasting. He was later promoted as a reporter, covering the bloodiest coup d'etat against the Aquino administration in 1989.
In 1995, Gerry moved to ABS-CBN and worked as the Radyo Patrol 25 and later tapped as a desk editor. He got his first crack at anchoring through the program "Ito ang Radyo Patrol" aired every Sunday morning. This paved way to his partnership with Anthony Taberna.
